CLAHRC NW

Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North West Coast

The National Institute of Health Research Collaboration for Leadership in Applied Health Research and Care North West Coast (NIHR CLAHRC NWC) brings universities, local authorities, NHS organisations and the public together ai??i?? working to accelerate the translation of research findings into health service improvements and changes that will reduce health inequalities and improve the health of the communities.

Such approaches are often described as aiming to enhance resilience. Early investigation suggests the resilience falls under four main areas: Living environment, Social relationships, Economics systems, and Community governance.

Wensley Fold and Millhill are the chosen wards from Blackburn with Darwen where this project will be delivered. The project is funded for 3 years and it is anticipated that ai???Research Advisorsai??? will be recruited from those areas to help with the delivery of the engagement and research of the project. Some of the champions will receive accredited training in research and engagement methods helping them to develop employment related skills and they will be paid for undertaking specific pieces of work. There will also be organised events to help engage and encourage other residents to get involved through the years.

The first stage of the project has already been completed where Household Health Surveys (HH) were conducted in both the neighbourhoods. The same HH survey will be repeated again in 2018 at the end of the project.

So if youai??i??re a resident from Millhill or Wensley Fold and are interested in becoming a ai???Resident Advisorsai??? or wish to know more about the project, please contact our main office on: 01254 292650
